Patricia Umu Strikers Coach Maway Ambitious for Revenge against Mena Queens in SLWPL second-round opener

Onward to their first match in the 2023/24 Sierra Leone Women's Premier League - (SLWPL), Maway Tarawalie, the Head coach of Patricia Umu Strikers Football Club of Kambia District said in a Friday interview with AWE-Media.SL that he and his players “are determine to seek revenge against Mena Queens.”

In the interview held at the Makeni Wusum Stadium during his side’s final preparatory training for their match day-12 tie against Mena Queens who became the only team to beat Patricia Umu Strikers Football Club on their home soil in the SLWPL first round, Coach Tarawlie recounted how dishearten that 2-1 home defeat was to him and his team.

“We were shocked, left in pain after losing in January to Mena Queens and it did take us time to recover from that sock which affected our team overall performance in the first round of this season’s league,” he reminisced revealing his team ambition to seek revenge in their match later today at the Wusum Stadium.

“As of now, I can confirm that we’re ready to defend our badge to beat Mena Queens on their own pitch and announce our determination to other opponents that we’re ready to compete for this season’s league titled, Coach Tarawalie explained expressing firm believe on his squad which he says management has been strengthen with four new signings from Freetown and Kenema respectively.

A win for Coach Tarawalie whose team sits on fourth place in the league log with 18 points, six points lesser than third place Ram-K who will face off last relation threatened Kahunla Rangers in ninth place at home, will strengthen his grip in the top five while his day’s opponents Mena Queens in sixth position with 16 points will be playing to restore their pride after bowing 6-0 to FC Kallon in their last match in the SLWPL first round.

In the other SLWPL match day-12 fixture, relegation battlers Vem Buck FC and Koinadugu Albitaya Female Football Club in 10th and 12th position will clash at the Bass Town playing field in Waterloo.

The following day, Correction Center (11th), Sierra Leone Police (5th) and holders Mogbwemo Queens currently topping the table with 33 points will play host respectively to Malema Queens (7th), Koya Queens (8th) and second place FC Kallon with 27 points from 11 league matches at 4:15 PM on Sunday.
