Women’s League Board Spokesperson confirms league resumption says "teams will continue to Mourn Iconic Lamin Bangura"

Hawa Dauda, the spokesperson and Media Representative of the Sierra Leone Female Premier League Board has shared with AWE-Media Sierra Leone that week 13 matches in the 2023/24 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League will resume today across six venues nationwide where teams will continue to mourn the tragic passing of Iconic Ex-Leone Stars defender and Ports Authority coach Lamin Bangura: (https://arwilsonsentertainment.blogspot.com/2024/03/sierra-leone-football-family-mourns.html?fbclid=IwAR1emIdGJQfrkgcy5LrNlI_HhZrbmPsn45UNuOduM3BJuz-LTR5SEFZsLEc_aem_AepqCO48HfA9Ek4sIVmRFzQCWcf0lhkJzbhif9U3KYxCwTDOnGGDt4PWobiL2FbEioo&m=1).

“Every follower of the Women’s will recall that matches were due to take place on weekends but for the first time this season six league games will be played simultaneously in a working day in memory of Ports Authority’s late coach, a legend in our nation’s football who lost his life while in active service,” Dauda explained.

She further revealed that a minute of silence will be observed across all six match venues nationwide before kick-off and players of every team have been encouraged to put on black arm bands to further mourn the death of the legendary coach “The pain of losing such a legendary coach is still fresh in our hearts and as a broad we send our heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and the rest of the football family in Sierra Leone,” Dauda solemnly said encouraging fans to show up to cheer their teams in the week 13 fixtures.

“We also appeals to the general public especially supporters of the female teams that have found joy in cheering their teams on weekend match days. I want to use this opportunity to assure them on behalf of the board that effective this weekend all league matches will resume to being played on weekends again,” she ended.

However, exciting clashes awaits the 12 participating female teams in the week 13 fixtures that will see bottom rock Koinadugu Albitaya Female Football Club of Kabala welcoming Correctional Center while current second place FC Kallon, Koya Queens, Kahunla Rangers, Malema Queens and Patricia Uma Strikers of Kambia will at 4:15 PM local time respectively playing hosts to Ram K, Mena Queens, Sierra Leone Police, Vem Buck and holders Mogbwemo Queens.
