Wusum Stars Coach Lamin Kamara refutes accusations of breaching contract terms

Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara

Mohamed Lamin Kamara, the Head coach of the Makeni-based soccer team Wusum Stars has vehemently denied the accusations of contract breaches made against him by the club's management.

His response came after the June 15, announcement by Wusum Stars management stating that Kamara was suspended from his coaching duties pending an investigation into alleged contract violations.

The club claimed that Kamara had signed a new contract with another top-tier team while still having several games left to coach with Wusum Stars in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League.

In a recent interview with AWE-Media Sierra Leone, Kamara contested the club's allegations, expressing his disappointment with the decision to suspend him based on mere rumors.

He insisted that he is a professional who has not breached any contracts and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation process, and has challenged the Wusum Stars management to provide concrete evidence of him signing with another club.

When asked about his feelings regarding the situation, Kamara admitted feeling terrible and shocked by the abrupt suspension from his coaching role, especially as he had worked hard to steer the team towards a top-three finish in the league.

Notably, Kamara had previously helped Wusum Stars avoid relegation last season after replacing the former coach, Abdul Rahman "Agina" Turay.

Meanwhile, Wusum Stars currently occupies the fourth position in the Sierra Leone Premier League, accumulating 50 points after a recent 2-0 home victory against Bai Bureh Warriors on Monday evening.

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
