In Freetown, the Capital City and other parts of Sierra Leone. The Government of Sierra Leone has stepped up its fight against drug abuse as communities across the country continue to grapple with the alarming spread of harmful substances such as Kush, tramadol and other illicit drugs.
With countless families affected and many young people at risk. The government is strengthening policies, law enforcement and support systems to protect citizens and restore hope.
According to those concerned, drug crisis is no longer just a security issue, but a deeply human one. Young people are losing their lives, families struggling to cope, and communities are watching their futures threatened by addiction and despair. This reality has pushed authorities to adopt a more compassionate yet firm approach.
New national policies have been designed to close gaps in the regulation of dangerous substances. The updated frameworks aim to clamp down on those who supply and distribute harmful drugs while encouraging preventive education that helps young people make safer choices. Government leaders emphasize that addressing drug abuse requires both accountability and understanding.
On the ground, law enforcement agencies have intensified crackdowns on drug networks and trafficking routes.
