Renowned Sierra Leonean musician, entrepreneur, and cultural leader Augustine Turay, better known by his stage name Augustine JayTee, has officially announced Pray Day as the date for a major entertainment festival marking his 15-year journey in the music industry.
JayTee, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Jada Xul Entertainment and President of the Makeni Artists Union (MAU), confirmed the development during an interview with Awoko Newspaper ending weeks of speculation surrounding a possible Pray Day event.
“I want to celebrate my 15 years in entertainment in a special way,” JayTee said. “When people support this celebration, they are giving back to the journey and motivating me to contribute even more to the industry.”
According to the award-winning rapper, the event will go beyond a personal milestone. He revealed plans to premiere 10 brand-new songs live, while also spotlighting artists he has mentored through Jada Xul Entertainment.
“This event will be unique in many ways,” he explained. “It will not only be about my performance but also about showcasing the talents I have helped develop and celebrating their achievements.”
The Pray Day festival will also feature interactive sessions, fan meet-and-greet opportunities, and appearances by Jada Xul Entertainment acts, MAU artists, and other prominent entertainment stakeholders. Several industry veterans are expected to share reflections on the collective journey of the creative sector over the past 15 years.
JayTee further disclosed that the programme will embrace a wide range of creative expressions, including DJ performances, dance, drama, comedy, MC hosting, and advocacy, while providing platforms for emerging and undiscovered talents from different regions.
Addressing how he balances music with his leadership responsibilities, business interests, and teaching career, JayTee admitted the task has been demanding.
“It hasn’t been easy,” he said. “But with discipline, versatility, and faith in God, I’ve learned how to prioritize and manage responsibilities one step at a time.”
He also highlighted ongoing challenges faced by entertainers, such as financial constraints, limited support, intense competition, industry disunity, and the lack of collaboration between established and upcoming artists.
Despite these obstacles, JayTee has built a reputation as one of the most versatile artists from Sierra Leone’s provinces, successfully combining music, entrepreneurship, education, and leadership.
With the Pray Day entertainment festival scheduled for March 2026, JayTee is inviting brands, corporate partners, and entertainment stakeholders to collaborate with him in delivering what he describes as a celebration of creativity, resilience, and sustained excellence.
