By: Alusine Rehme Wilson – (AR-WILSON) At a day’s workshop organized by Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (AVDP) in Makeni on Tuesday March 31, 2020 for Smallholder farmers, stakeholders and other farmers group, there has been much excitement among farmers who participated in the workshop since AVDP Project Manager, Abdulrahman Bob Conteh announced a new project which is aimed at eradicating rural poverty through modernizing agricultural skills, enhancing rich self sufficiency in about 34,000 rural homes and empowering women and youths in Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) vehemently condemns the 'merciless beating' of journalist Fayia Amara Fayia by a group of about nine military personnel allegedly led by one Major Fofanah in Kenema town this afternoon around 2pm. The incident, according to his colleague journalists at the scene, took place at a potential quarantine venue at Dama Road, in the full view of the Commanding Officer of the RSLAF 2nd Battalion in Kenema, Major Kamanda, and the Kenema District Council Chairman, 'Mohamed O'Level' Sesay. The education and charitable organization (INCF) together with Executive members of the Traders Union, Journalists and representatives of the Makeni City Council started the sensitization at the central business area of Makeni and moved it to Police Stations, Political Party Offices, Motor Bike Riders, Ataya Bases, Schools and concludes the day’s activity at some Radio Stations in the city. Holy Spirit is a medical miracle. It started as a small clinic in a room and parlour in the Masuba Parish building to what it has become today, a giant and full blown medical center. The secret behind this is the untiring and passionate pioneering efforts of a devout young Catholic professional, Dr. Patrick Turay. Dr. Turay is incredibly phenomenal and has achieved a significant milestone in the medical landscape of not only Sierra Leone but in Africa South of the Sahara. We hope that here will be a learning point.
