Although he’s at the moment tight lipped on the total amount of money he will be pumping into the championship, he said the rationale to staging the tournament is “to help Guinean, Malian and Senegalese clubs to better prepare for the CAF Champions League.” The maiden tournament has been named the West Africa Champions Cup and is scheduled to be played from 21st to 25th August, 2022 in Guinea.
