​“West Africa Champions Cup underway in August”-GFF President Assures

Antonio Souare, the President of the Guinea Football Federation-(GFF) and owner of Horoya Athletic Club has disclosed sponsoring a maiden three-nation football tournament scheduled to kick-off in August this year.

Although he’s at the moment tight lipped on the total amount of money he will be pumping into the championship, he said the rationale to staging the tournament is “to help Guinean, Malian and Senegalese clubs to better prepare for the CAF Champions League.”


The maiden tournament has been named the West Africa Champions Cup and is scheduled to be played from 21st to 25th August, 2022 in Guinea.

Host Horoya Athletic Club, Djoliba Athletic Club of Mali, Academie Soar of Guinea and Cesa Sports of Senegale announced as the four football clubs to compete for the maiden title.

Meanwhile, the competition’s organizing committee is set to update the press about the upcoming championship at a press conference scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 2nd August, 2022 at the General Lansana Conteh Stadium in Ngor, Guinea at 11:00AM.
