It's an honour to be here today at the Women in the Media in Sierra Leone Annual General Meeting to discuss the theme of "Positioning Female Journalists to Promote Women in Politics." In Sierra Leone, women are underrepresented in both politics and the media. According to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, only 13.1% of seats in the Sierra Leonean parliament are held by women. This is despite the fact that women make up over 50% of the country's population. Similarly, the Global Media Monitoring Project found that only 24% of news stories in Sierra Leone feature women as protagonists or experts.   This Wednesday’s  15th February 2023 match between Western Area Rural and Southern region in Waterloo is crucial not only for the two teams but also for the Northeast region. The match will determine whether the Northeast region will progress to the semifinals of the Leone Rock Metal Group in the Inter regional one nation football tournament. As it stands, the Northeast region is at the top of Group A with three points and two goals, followed closely by the Southern region with three points and one goal. The brief ceremony which took place at the Kandeh Town Community in Bo attracted club executive, technical staff, players, and some supporters. The eye-catching yellow and deep blue jersey features the club crest coupled with beautiful designs and numbering. Ibrahim Sidi Turay one of the club managers whilst officially presenting the kits to the club greatly appreciated the coaches and players for holding the forth despite the challenges.  "I am extremely pleased to unveiled our new training kit today.
