Match
day one in the 2019/2020 Sierra Leone Premier League turns out to be laudable
for South and Eastern region hosts, Bo Rangers and Kamboi Eagles who both sent
visitors Central Parade and Freetown City FC home in tears after both teams
lost away in Bo and Kenema respectively.
Last season’s third place owners Bo Rangers in the absence of their striker Suffian Kalokoh started their Premier League campaign well over FCFC with a 20th minute goal from the former Hafia sensation Prince Barrie.
The
visitor’s efforts to equalize in the game proved futile as the Rangers wasted
no time but hold on to their first half lead till full time which made their
southern region supporters enjoyed night-live in the country’s second largest
city Bo few hours after Prince Barrie was voted is as man of the Match.
Central
Parade were also beaten 2-0 by Kamboi Eagles. Abubakkar Kanu’s 35th
minute curtain raiser dislodged the Western area visitors who were unable to
reply the Eagles. Ahmed Vandi’s counter attack added the wings of the Eagles at
minute 58 to make it 2-0 for the host which saw their opponent midfield area
and defense in total disarray till full time.
It
was a goalless game for one time Premier League Champions Diamond Stars against
Anti Drugs in the diamond land of Kono. Both teams played well but law-10 was
completely missing in the game and both teams shared the spell with so much
taps on back of Diamond stars skipper Abdulai Mansaray for sensational display
in the back line no wonder he was voted man of the match.
Traditional
competitors of the League, Might Blackpool scored the earliest goal so far this
season at only 5 minutes after kick off which kept the FC Johansen fans quite
at the Siaka Stevens stadium until the 23rd minute when the Johansen
trailblazer Raphael Koroma equalized before half time.
The
rivalry heightens between the two teams with much chances from both sides even
though several attempts to score in the second half proved fruitless and
visitors Mighty Blackpool picks up valuable point to Johansen in the league
opener while striker Raphael Koroma of FC-Johansen was awarded an android phone
Premier League Board by haven been voted as man of the match.
The
premier League will continues on Friday, 5th December when one time
league’s runner up Republic of Sierra Leone Arm Forces will host East End
Tigers at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown at 16:00 hours.
