AS WITNESSES FRUSTRATES PROSECUTION, MANSLAUGHTER ACCUSED ACQUITTED AND DISCHARGED

At a jam-packed high court in Makeni presided over by Justice Unisa Kamara, Amidu Bangura was arraigned for the offence of manslaughter contrary to law after he has spent three years in detention.

According to court evidence from the police, it was disclosed that the accused allegedly killed the decease Mohamed Tarawalie at Makoni village in the Kunike Barina chiefdom, Tonkolili District on the 5th May 2017. 

It was further disclosed that the decease Mohamed Tarawalie was a worker to the accused Amidu Bangura when he met his untimely death. Another police reported produced in court revealed that the accused was discovered lying along the Makoni road in a pool of blood.

The accused Amidu Bangura pleaded not guilty and was represented by Legal Aid Lawyer Ibrahim Samba. During legal argument in court, the accused lawyer raised a submission that the accused did not commit the alleged offence upon which he stand trial and later arguedon the groundsthat all the police statements produced in court did not point fingers at the accused to be the perpetrator.

Several witnesses were summoned through the state counsel office but none of them do not surface and as a result the prosecution counsel offered no further evidence against the accused.

The presiding Judge, Justice Unisa Kamara delivered his judgment in favor of the accused person Amidu Bangura by acquitting and discharging him which he stand trial because of none compliance of the witnesses.
