Sierra Leone- Ease Spectators Ban to allow 30% attendance at Stadiums

After engagements with the National Covid-19 Emergency Response Center, the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports in Sierra Leone have jointly confirmed lifting of the ban on sports activities behind closed doors now allowing 30% Spectators to return to Stadiums during football matches including venues nationwide where the nation’s maiden 18-teams championship will be played in the 2020/2021 men’s top flight.

NSA and MOS thanked fans and spectators for adhering to the government and WHO Health protocols in the time of the outbreak but cautioned them to strictly adhere to all COVID-19 regulations as prescribed by NaCOVERC during matches at all sports venue noting that anyone may be charged for non-compliance.

However, there is much excitements from the football family in Sierra Leone on the eased spectators ban as various fan clubs are all set to cheer up their teams, players are hoping to impress while Coaches of all 18 top-tier clubs continue to brace up for the competition despite the League Board is still tight-lipped about the champions price in the one round format champion. 

With top-tier coaches remaining optimistic and anticipating to see their skills and work paying off, Bo Rangers Head coach, John Dominic Konneh said he’s super pleased that the league kicks off this Friday and at least 30% spectators will watch his team play at various stadiums when playing against the 17 other clubs for the match revenue will help to salvage the financial burden on Premier League clubs.

“In as much as COVID-19 is still around, I’m also looking forward to the squad my technical team have put together which is inclusive of recent signings prominent among is the 2019 highest goal scorer Musa Noah Kamara who has assured me to put his best for our supporters this in itself give me joy on the eased spectators ban.” Konneh he told CAFOnline.

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers
