Swimming Association Gets Le 199.2 Million Government Support

The Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association-(SLSDWA) has received the sum of One Hundred and Ninety-nine Million, Two Hundred and Eleven Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Three Thousand Leones (Le 199,211,843), the National Sports Authority-(NSA) announced on Monday.

Presser further reads: “It could be recalled that the association, as part of its preparation for the delayed 2020 Olympic Games in Japan sent a budget to the Ministry of Finance through the NSA for the facilitation of two international trainings in South Africa and Italy respectively.

The latest support announced, in the last ten years and till date is the third and highest financial Government support the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association have received.

Scribe Mohamed Turay has confirmed receipt of the payment to Awoko, he says they are grateful to receive their first ever assistance from the country’s Sports Authority since its inception. “This money is provided to us as a refund of funds spent by the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association for training camps in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in Milan and Monza in Italy respectively for preparation of the delayed 2020 Olympic Games held in Tokyo.” He added.
 
The first two were the sums of Five Million Leones (Le 5,000,000) and Eight Hundred United States Dollars ($800) was given to us as an association in 2016 and 2017 as support for a Swimming Officials Congress and for visa application to Hungary for the President respectively.
