ONS Opens New Regional Office in Makeni

After operating for some several years in dwelling, the Office of National Security (ONS- North) has finally officially opened its new office space on Wednesday 13th July 2022.

The new office complex is sited at the heart of the city, 64 Rogbaneh road, along Makeni-Kabela Highway in Makeni, North Eastern Sierra Leone.

Prior to the official inauguration, a brief meeting was held at the conference room of the new office were authorities in the Region met and conversed.

  

Unveiling that plaque at the new office complex, Mr. Simenon Fatoma, the Norther-East Region Provincial Secretary was afforded the honor as the Chairperson of a conference that brought together security institutions existing under the canopy of the state. 

Welcoming guests and delivering the introductory remarks, Mr. Fatoma told attendees that the new office complex, he said, was a step in the right direction considering the vital activities needed to be carried out in the office. 

Speaking during the event, Mr. Mustapha Bonnie North-East Regional Coordinator elatedly express gratitude to the Government of Sierra Leone and ONS top team for adding value to their work, affirming that, the new office is in the city’s busiest avenue. Equally, it could be easily reached by members of the public and will certainly ease the burden of their work as staff. 

Similar statement of this was made by the District Coordinator Mrs. Bintu Sillah who emphatically confirmed that, the relocation of the office is timely.

   

Representatives from of Sierra Leone Police, the Military, the Anti-Corruption Commission, key others including stakeholders in the region thanking ONS on new achievement, Civil Society Activist Mrs. Emilia Kamara Jengo said ONS had not been considered serious inasmuch as the institution could not afford to secure an office to carry out their day-to-day administrative functions.” 

Until now, I had never been convinced of the seriousness of ONS-North in providing security to citizens; however, today I’m absolutely amazed for your achievement and hopping that you will be committed to bring solutions to some other teething problems, ranging from vehicle inadequacy to some others”. She underscored.   

Mohamed Bankafornah Bangura is the Director of Provincial Security Coordinator at the Office of National Security (ONS). In his statement, the new Regional office indicates ONS living effort in providing effective security system in the region noting that, the new office complex is a good development that helps not only ONS staff and the inhabitants of the Northern Region, but the entire country.

Conclusively,  Mr. Bangura advised staff to handle the office with care to ensure that employees and inhabitants of the region benefit at the end of the day.
