Zion Assemblies of God Church, Coronation Field Road in Bo on Sunday 8 January 2023 officially opened and dedicated its new church edifice.

The ceremony brought together senior ministers from the Assemblies of God Mission including the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Mission Sierra Leone Rev Sahr Christian Fayia, Southern District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Mission Sierra Leone Rev Theophilus Sowa, Representatives from the Ministers Prayer Network, Traditional and Local leaders, Church members, the Body of Christ, Journalists, to name but a few.

Giving a brief background of the church Rev Michael Kelfala Kanu Senior Pastor-in-charge of the Zion Assemblies of God Church underscored, the church came into being in the late 60's in Jai Town, before moving to Hardup Lane and later to Red Cross at Coronation Field in Bo City.

He said the church has since then expanded with branches within the municipality of Bo and its environs.

He informed, the Assemblies of God Mission is represented in over 144 countries in the world, branded as the first pentecostal fellowship in world, also being the first pentecostal fellowship in Bo City and the country as a whole.

As a ministry Rev Kanu noted exits as disciples of Jesus Christ to wholly love God and to unconditionally love man; and in this regard seek to exalt Christ, evangelize the lost, equip and edify the saints holistically and to extend to unreached areas in the power of the holy spirit.

On his part, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Mission Sierra Leone Rev Sahr Christian Fayia thanked the leadership of the Zion Assemblies of God Church and the entire membership for their many sacrifices towards building the house of God which he noted is the best thing one can do.

He also thanked partners who in diverse ways assisted towards ensuring the successful completion of the building project.

He therefore called on all work concertedly to forster the gospel in this part of the vineyard and beyond.

U.S. partner Dr. David Jordan (CEO Seven Hills Global Outreach) expressed great delight for witnessing the ceremony and for being in Sierra Leone, a place where he always call home after the United States.

"My country is the United States of America, but my heart is always in Sierra Leone. I have been to many parts in Africa but one place I call home after America is Sierra Leone.

"In 2009 I came in contact with Rev Kelfala Kanu and wife and both have ever since change my life positively. They've instilled in me and all of my friends in the US positive insight. We thank God for coming into contact with these great people.

"Zion Ministries is at the center of our hearts and this bond will continue as we all continue to promote kingdom work", he said.

Chairman of Ministers Prayer Network (MPN) Min. Issa Rogers informed the gathering that as a fellowship are happy to have Zion Ministries as a part of them. MPN he noted is an interdenominational network that is made up of not only pastors but church workers as well,  with the heart burning desire of fellowshipping together by praying for the nation, churches, institutions and evangelizing the lost.

"We have a cordial relationship with the Zion Ministries. Currently Zion is hosting us, as they've opened their doors for us to be holding all our meetings and fellowships here.

"Let me use this opportunity to call on all ministers and church workers present here to see reason to join this beautiful family.

"You don't necessarily have to be a pastor to join this network, I am a clear example. I am not an ordained pastor but I'm the chairman of the Ministers Prayer Network. So you all are welcome", he concluded

Earlier, the Southern District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Mission Sierra Leone Rev Theophilus Sowa congratulated Rev Kanu and team together with partners for the massive structure which he noted is beautiful by all description. He assured that the Southern District council will continue to give the needed support to churches within the region. "Church planting and empowering of our ministers are key areas that we will continue to strengthen. We want to appreciate Zion Ministries for this great work", he said.

England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200. Senegal, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most famous football nations, nicknamed the “Lions of Teranga.” In 2002, ...

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
