SLFA Deputy Scribe reveals hosting of WAFU A’ U20 Female Championship By: Alusine Rehme Wilson
The Deputy General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association – (SLFA) Mohamed Benson Bawoh has disclosed that work is in progress for the hosting of the 2023 edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) A-Zone U20 championship for female national teams. Benson who’s reportedly the current Acting General Secretary also said that matches will be played in the east and southern regional cities of Kenema and Bo where the tournament has been scheduled to be hosted simultaneously from May 22 to June 3 this year. As the momentum develops toward the West African football loving nation’s match to host its second zonal championship after hosting the maiden edition three years again respectively in the North and Southern cities of Makeni and Bo, the local football federation (SLFA) has made a historic announcement of the appointment of the National U20 Female team. Impressively, the technical team is dominated for the first time in the country’s football history by females 11 out of the 13 appointees. The Assistant coach-I of Sierra Leone’s senior women’s national A team (Sierra Queens) Hassan M. Mansaray has been appointed as Head coach of Sierra Starlets. He will be assisted by Fatmata Turay and Adama Suma as Assistant Coaches I and II, and the former Sierra Queens and East End Tigers Head coach Victoria Conteh as Technical Adviser and journalist Hawa Dauda as Media officer while Wusum Stars Goalkeepers coach Sheku Lahai Koroma has been named as Sierra Starlets Goalkeepers coach. Tentatively, eight other nations in the WAFU A’ zone namely: Cape Verde, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Senegal and Liberia are expected to participate in the tournament, the local football federation’s (SLFA) media officer Ibrahim Kamara have told AWE-Media.SL.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
