"Prime Minister of Sierra Leone Football" Lamin Bangura passes on

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson The Sierra Leone football community is in mourning following the tragic passing of legendary defender Lamin Bangura. Bangura, an ex-Leone Stars defender, etched his name in history when he led his former club, Diamond Stars of Kono, to victory in the Sierra Leone Premier League Cup in 2012. Notably, he was the first coach to secure a national men’s top-tier title with a provincial team. Bangura’s illustrious career spanned both playing and coaching. He proudly wore Sierra Leone’s national team jersey until his retirement from international football. As a coach, he served as the head coach of the Sierra Leone Premier League side Ports Authority Football Club from 2021. Tragically, at the age of 59, Bangura lost his life in a road crash. The accident occurred while he was traveling with players and officials of his club to honor a league fixture against Kahunla Rangers of Kenema. Wusum Stars Head coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara who has previously coached East End Lions has emphasized the importance of today's match saying “this match is a must win. Conteh arrived in Norway on Friday and the eight times Norwegian cup finalists with excitement took to their official website to announce the arrival of the Godrich Strikers football club graduate stating that “work and residence permits are now in place,” adding that the Sierra Leonean attacking player is thus ready for Mjøndalen in the 2024 season and is ready for training with his new teammates. Cameroon to begin search for Senior National Team Staff
