By: Alusine Rehme Wilson The Sierra Leone football community is in mourning following the tragic passing of legendary defender Lamin Bangura. Bangura, an ex-Leone Stars defender, etched his name in history when he led his former club, Diamond Stars of Kono, to victory in the Sierra Leone Premier League Cup in 2012. Notably, he was the first coach to secure a national men’s top-tier title with a provincial team. Bangura’s illustrious career spanned both playing and coaching. He proudly wore Sierra Leone’s national team jersey until his retirement from international football. As a coach, he served as the head coach of the Sierra Leone Premier League side Ports Authority Football Club from 2021. Tragically, at the age of 59, Bangura lost his life in a road crash. The accident occurred while he was traveling with players and officials of his club to honor a league fixture against Kahunla Rangers of Kenema. Their hired team bus collided with a stationary truck along the Mile 91 - Bo Highway...
