Holders Mogbwemo Queens determined to correct last season’s SLWPL mistake to FC Kallon

The contest for the 2023/24 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League (SLWPL) title will take center stage later today at the Rutile playing field when holders Mogbwemo Queens lock horns with title contenders FC Kallon at 4:15 PM.

This encounter promises to be exciting after both teams (Mogbwemo Queens and FC Kallon) wrapped up their first round with a whopping 6-0 away win over Koinadugu Albitaya Female Football Club and Mena Queens Football Club in Makeni.

With 33 points from 11 league matches in the first round of this year’s SLWPL defending champions Mogbwemo Queens skipper Kadiatu Mohamed Kamara has told AWE-Media Sierra Leone that their ultimate goal is to beat FC to stretch their lead at the top and maintain their unbeaten run.

“FC was the team that broke our unbeaten run last season, although we won the league cup and became the inaugural champions of the first ever organized national women’s cup in Sierra Leone, we felt pain when our unbeaten run was broken. This is why we’re determined to ensure that we don’t bow to FC Kallon because they’re one of our closest contenders in the league,” Kamara noted, stressing that their home crowd expects a lot from them.

However, the Mogbwemo Queens Skipper who’s also one of the golden shoe contenders with 7 goals from 11 matches has warned that her side “don’t underrate FC Kallon because they are a good team with skilful and confident players,” like them.

Without a doubt, FC Kallon with 27 points from 11 league games sitting in second place aims to secure a win in Rutile to close the point differences with the hosts (Mogbwemo Queens) who’re leading them by six points.

Elsewhere in the other match day-12 games Correctional Center and Sierra Leone Police sitting in 11th and fifth position will at the same time later today play host to Malema Queens (7th), Koya Queens (8th) respectively.
