Bombali district soccer outfit Wusum Stars Football Club (Northern Rock) wrapped up its final preparatory training to face East End Lions Football Club (The Killer) from Freetown at 4:15 PM local time today at the Wusum Stadium.

Wusum Stars Head coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara who has previously coached East End Lions has emphasized the importance of today's match saying “this match is a must win. We need to beat Lions and reclaim our pride as the “Northern Rock” and to do so we must put behind our back our mid-week 3-2 defeat to Old Edwardians, Kamara advised.

The coach who has since told AWE-Media Sierra Leone that his season objective is to win the 2023/24 Leone Rock Premier League (the national top-tier) team currently in ninth place with 23 points after 18 league games with six wins, five draws, and seven defeats.

Despite they are 10 points behind table toppers Bo Rangers, Coach Lamin has not ruled out his chances to compete for the title with 16 more games to go, he has firmly cautioned his players not to underrate “The Killers.”

According to the host’s spokesman Joseph Sam Turay, there is no injury worry at camp. “Our players are set and very ready to shine over the East End Lions," he noted on Saturday.

On the other hand, East End Lions who also lost their match day-18 clash 2-1 to Bhantal Football Club are in fifth position with 27 points behind Lauwa FC with 29 points.

However, the Killers equally hope to secure a win over the host to continue their title hunt relying on the return from injury of their inform winger Prince Barrie, who has been a danger man against Wusum Stars in their previous meetings.

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
