Sierra Leone’s U20 team fought bravely but bowed out of AFCON U20 after a dramatic 1-0 loss to Morocco in extra time.
Playing much of the match with ten men following Samba Juma Bah’s red card, they defended courageously before an unfortunate own goal sealed their fate in the second half of extra time.
The young squad showed remarkable resilience at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium, standing firm despite Morocco’s dominance in possession.
With relentless determination, Sierra Leone made life difficult for the Atlas Lions, absorbing pressure and keeping their opponents from breaking through.
Even with one player down, their disciplined defense frustrated Morocco for over an hour.
But in the late stages of extra time, a misjudged clearance found its way into the back of their own net, an agonizing blow that confirmed Morocco’s passage to the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup.
