At Pate Bana, Bondo Society Declares Widow Wanted...

Published from Blogger Prime Android App

The Bondo Society in Pate Bana, Bombali Shebore Chiefdom, Bombali District, has declared Madam Isatu Sesay wanted for allegedly failing to fulfill her traditional and societal obligations as required by custom.

Madam Isatu Sesay is a widow; she lost her husband during the Ebola outbreak in Pate Bana.

According to the head of the ceremony, Madam Sampa Fatmata Koroma, Madam Sesay was expected to undergo initiation to assume the traditional role of her late mother, Madam Emma Sesay, who served as the head of the Bondo Secret Society and presided over all ceremonial activities in the area.

Madam Koroma explained that following the death of Madam Emma Sesay on 16th June 2022, funeral rites were organized in line with traditional practices.

As dictated by custom, her daughter, Isatu Sesay, was to perform her mother’s final ritual rites and subsequently take over her position. “That decision is not subject to compromise,” Madam Koroma emphasized.

She further stated that the family of the fugitive is well acquainted with these customs, noting that the ritual responsibility is hereditary.

The failure of Madam Isatu Sesay to perform her mother’s rites, she said, is viewed as a grave act of defiance against tradition.

Reports gathered by this medium indicate that the Bondo women consider her refusal an act of betrayal punishable by the society.

Sources who preferred to remain anonymous revealed that individuals found guilty of such acts have previously faced severe consequences, including fatal punishments used to appease ancestral spirits and deter future defiance.

Efforts to contact the fugitive or locate her current whereabouts proved unsuccessful, as family members expressed fear for their safety, believing they could face harm if found.

It was also observed that Madam Isatu Sesay’s family house was set ablaze shortly after her disappearance by yet unknown individuals.

The incident has left the community in tension as traditional leaders insist on upholding the customs of the land.

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
