HUNTER ARRESTED WITH ARMS

Mohamed Alie Thullah, a village hunter by profession was yesterday hawked to the Makeni Magistrate court on four counts charges ranging from Unlawful Possession of small fire arms without license, Being in possession of  arms without authorization,  Unlawful possession of ammunition  and Carrying  offensive weapon contrary to law.

According to the court prosecutor, he revealed in court that the accused was arrested on the 3rd January 2019 at May allow checkpoint in the Paki Masagbom chiefdom, Bombali District with one fire arm gun, seven red cartridges and one metal handle knife all placed in a rice bag on board a motor bike with a registration number AOD 284 heading to Magburaka in the Tonkolili District.

During police investigation, the accused Mohamed Alie Thullah admitted to this medium that he is the rightful owner of the said properties and that he is a peaceful citizen and his livelihood is through his hunting skills and on that note pleaded for mercy.

The accused was denied bail by the presiding magistrate Peter Brima Gogra because the offence committed was felonious by law.
