SLFA Appoints Asmaa James as Board Chairperson for Proposed National Women’s League

Asmaa James the Station Manager of Radio Democracy who doubles as an Executive Member of East End Lions Football Club has been appointed as Board Chairperson of the proposed National Women’s Premier League. 

Her appointment by the Sierra Leone Football Association-(SLFA) means she will now join hands with the Competition’s department of the local Football Federation, SLFA among others for the organization of the first ever National Women’s Premier League in the Sierra Leone which according to SLFA’s Head of Competition Sorie Ibrahim Sesay has been scheduled to commence in May this year with a total of twelve-(12) elite Women’s football teams from each of the five regions namely: North, North-West, South, East and Western region competing for the maiden championship title. 

The New Sierra Leone Female Premier League Board Chairperson has expressed much zeal to work hand in gloves with related partners to ensure that the proposed Female League commences soon nationwide. 

Other appointed members to the Board are: Jenessi Matturi as General Secretary, Emelia Kamara Jengo(Member), Angela Gabbidon(Member), Jeneba Essekwi(Member), Daniella Mansaray(Member) and Zainab S. Conteh. 

For female football club owners that were interviewed by AWE-Media.SL, they expressed for the setting up of the first ever National Women's Premier League Board, they urged that: "the Sierra Leone Football Association to ensure they do the needful this time around to let the league which was earlier slated to commence on August, 12 last year to finally commence in May, the new date that has been announced by the local FA."
