By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  After a weeklong of competitive football contests in Kenema and Makeni between 10 teams that respectively finished as the top two teams in the five administrative football regions, the race to secure a ticket as one of the best three teams from the ongoing Men’s 1st division playoffs to next season’s Sierra Leone Premier League has heightened. In the two groups A and B consisting of 5 teams each respectively based in the Northern and Eastern cities of Makeni and Kenema, the qualification hopes of two teams namely Freetown City Football Club with 5points and Edmond Michael Football Club have been shattered after losing their final group matches on Friday to Great Scarcies and Gulf 2-1 and 3-0 respectively at the Wusum and Kenema city Stadiums. Sidik completed his brace in the 55 minute to become the first player in the tournament to score twice in a single game in the ongoing qualifiers that will determine the next three 1st division teams to be promoted to next season’s national Men’s top-tier. By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Sahid Conteh-U Football Club’s Skipper and Forward Mohamed Koroma was the hero at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni on Thursday evening as his lone goal helped his team to beat Real Republican 1-0 in the 1st Division Playoffs. It’s the Makeni based club first victory after losing 2-3 to Freetown FC and sharing the spoils in a goalless encounter with Rutile Rangers on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. By: Tejan Frederickson Fatorma Northeast Region Football Association (NERFA) Media and Marketing In the first match between Great Scarcies and Real Republicans was a must win for either sides to had increased their chances to progress into the semis.  For most period of the game, Real Republicans FC  looked out of sorts as they failed to stamp authority in a match that a first half goal ought to have given them the confidence to play better than they did. By: Tejan Frederickson Fatorma ,  Northeast Region Football Association (NERFA) Media and Marketing Rutile Rangers hopes of registering a three points in their opening match against Great Scarcies FC was dented following a 1-1 draw at the Makeni Wusum stadium in the ongoing National First-Division Playoffs.  Much of the first half passed by without anything meaningful to note, both sides feeling the other out in what was a cagey opening first half.  Both sides showed real reluctance to actually mount any kind of sustained pressure and the first half ended with neither really laying a glove on the other. The second half was quite dramatic as the Southern region based club, Rutile Rangers took the lead in the 65th minutes courtesy of Pious Bornor who sliced in a low-cross that went at the back of the net. By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Three-time champions of the Sierra Leone Premier League Real Republicans Football Club waited late to equalize to secure a point against Freetown FC in the opening game of the ongoing National Men’s 1st Division Playoffs. Both teams played to a goalless first half but stepped up and netted their tournament’s first goals. Freetown FC were first to score in the 68th minute and enjoyed the lead until their central defender committed a ruthless foul in the 89th minute that saw their Republicans striker scoring from the penalty spot to restore parity and both teams  walked home with a point. Elsewhere in Kenema, Edmond Michael Foundation defeated Bombali Sebora FC 2-1 to climb top of group-B.
