By: Paul Kamara paulkamara772@gmail.com Ahead of this year's General Elections, Paramount Chief of Kakua Chiefdom PC Prince Lappia BOIMA IV has on Friday 6 January 2023 engaged media stakeholders in Bo on the role of the media in creating a peaceful and non-violent elections.  He recognized the significant role played by the media in terms of information dissemination, but however noted that the media also play a crucial role in influencing the behavior of citizens either positively or negatively due to the type of messages they send out to the public.  Bringing into context the media and the Rwanda genocide, PC Boima catalogued the crucial role played by the media in the 1994 Rwanda genocide as local media fuelled the killing of many innocent citizens.  This he noted should serve as an example to learn from. I am sure they are aware of the poor network services provided to customers. And it is obvious that the services provided by these communication companies in Sierra Leone are poor. And there is little to write about home 🏡 as compared to International Communication companies standards.  I'm of the belief that, several complains have been made through Consumer Protection Agency, but nothing seems to have been done to remedy the situation. The situation is getting worse every day. This is really sad.  This situation needs immediate NATCOM's intervention. Customers are aware of the fact that, local communication companies cannot match  up to international standards but at least let there be some improvements. The dinner was hosted at the Wizard Complex, Dambala Road in Bo with representation from the various communities that formed the  "Team Peace Makers" such as: Hangha Town, Kortugbuma, Reservation, Old Barracks, Nikibu and Brima Town that teamed up in few months ago to clinch the President Bio Inter-Community Trophy for communities in the Southern Region city of Bo, after defeating Njagboima Community 1-0 in the finals.
