❗Modern School of Science and Business Wins 2019 Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund Inter Secondary Schools Quiz Competition

Modern School of Science and Business Secondary School - Makeni haven scored a total of 68 points edging other competing schools at the grand final of the inter secondary schools quiz competition, which took place at the Wusum Hotel Multipurpose hall, on Friday, 15th March 2019, emerged  winners of the first ever Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund Inter Secondary Schools Quiz Competition, organized by two of the beneficiaries of the late Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu, whose name the education trust is named after.

The three weeks long Inter Secondary Schools Quiz Competition brought together for the first time in the history of Bombali District 12 secondary schools within and outside the cosmopolitan Makeni city in the Bombali District, in a forum many have described as a very friendly but very competitive atmosphere throughout the stages of the competition.

Four schools out of the twelve competing schools qualified to the grand final at a very competitive contest and its final results positioned the four schools in the following: Modern School of Science and Business Secondary School (68points), Sylvanus Municipal Secondary School (60points), Benevolent Islamic Secondary School (40points), and Saint Joseph Secondary School (43points) all of Makeni in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th position respectively all of which bagged home the sum of Le 1,000,000, Le 750,000,000, Le 500,000, and Le 250,000 as cash prizes.

The 1st and 2nd, Best Quizzers were Melvin Kanu of Sylvanus Municipal Secondary School Makeni, and Lamarana Samuella Gibateh of Modern School of Science and Business Secondary School Makeni both received individual star prices of Le 1,000000, and Le500,000 while the  3rd, and 4th Best Quizzers  also took home the sum of Le 300,000 and Le 250,00 respectively.

Apart from the cash prizes awarded to deserving winners, the Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund Inter Secondary Schools Quiz Competition organizers also provided Transportation refunds and presented certificates of merits to all the 12 schools and Pupils that participated in the Quiz competition.

The Secretary General of the Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund, and one time Vice President of SLAJ, who also double as the CEO of City Media Center, Stanley Bangura Junior, in an interview with this writer, said that the Trust was established by himself and the one time two term Honorable Member of Parliament Martin Bangura of Bombali District, two of the many direct beneficiaries from the kindness of the Late Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu a personality he described as a “Great-man, that had passion for Education and Humanity” during his reign and that the Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund, is here to thread on his foot-steps to help keep his legacies and name alive as their own way of giving back to society.

He concluded with strict assurance that the Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund, in 2020 is looking forward to inaugurate a research on the personality of the late man for Students of the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology - Makeni University College and the University of Makeni (UNIMAK) to discover enough facts about Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu. He further urged all direct and indirect beneficiaries to come onboard and support the Dr. Vicent Lamina Kanu Education Trust Fund.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
