Youth Groups team-up to rehabilitate deplorable Makeni CBD Road

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  The once deplorable Makeni Central Business District area road on Rogbaneh road by the city’s clock tower was rehabilitated over the weekend by Youth Groups from various areas in Makeni city and its environs who had teamed up with famous businessman and politician Abubakarr “Lamtales” Kamara. The youth groups included youth from the Makama Young Shall Grow Organization, Friends United, Stocco Area and Ade Street Youth Groups that collaborated with members of the Friends of Lamtales to rehabilitate the road on Sunday. Bombali Deaf Development Association Re-hugs, set New Goals

National U15, U17 Male Team Coaches to scout Makeni players today

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Following their successive representations in the WAFU-A U15 and U17 tournaments in Liberia and Monrovia, the National Male U15 and U17 teams will today play two friendly matches in Makeni against the Makeni U15 and U17 All Stars football teams. According to the coordinator of the said friendly matches Mohamed K-Plus Conteh, “both matches will be played at the Wusum Stadium with the respective kickoff times set for 8:00am and 10:00am (local times). Maiden Sierra Leone Female Premier League pulls huge crowd

Government reaffirms commitment to peace, stability & tranquility

​ By: Alusine Rehme Wilson The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Information and Communications has reaffirmed it commitments to a peaceful, stable and tranquil nation.  The assurance was stated in a Sunday presser, in which MIC had announced a state burial for unidentifiable corpes that lost their lives to the dreadful August 10 citizens protests in Makeni, Kamakwie and the eastern part of the country.  According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the corpses whose total number they’ve refused to disclose, will be buried on Monday, 17th October, 2022 at Bolima in the Western Area Rural District of Waterloo in  collaboration with the bereaved families. MIC also stated that the bereaved family members have duly received from the Government the sum of NLE 20,000 each, as funeral rites assistance as it pleases the President of the Republic His Excellency Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio.

SLSDWA Female Rep. Schools Northern Region Swimmers on Menstrual Hygiene, Sexual Harassments

Menstrual Hygiene training underway for Northern Region Female Swimmers

​ By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Ten female swimmers in the northern region will be trained on Menstrual Hygiene and general rules of the Swimming Diving and Waterpolo, the National Swimmers Association-(SLSDWA) has confirmed. The training which is scheduled to hosted in Makeni, will be delivered by Hawa Dauda, the Female Representative of the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Waterpolo Association-(SLSDWA). Speaking to AWE-Media.SL, the SLSDWA Female Representative who doubles as one of the renowned female sports journalists in Sierra Leone, she said: “Female Swimmers are mostly challenged by Menstrual related problems, which has been scaring them away from regular involvements in the sports , and as the female representative I’m staging this training with support from the Association as the first of many clinics underway for our athletes, especially the females.”

Amidu Karim, three others appointed as Technical Officials for Sierra Leone’s U23 Male Team

​ By: Alusine Rehme Wilson     Assiatant Head Coach-I of Leone Stars and Former FC Kallon Head Coach, Amidu Kamara has been announced as Head Coach of the National Male U23 Football Team.   Karim’s appointment and the three others was publicized by the local football federation of Sierra Leone-(SLFA), Executive Committee Members. This means the experienced trainer becomes the head of the U23 male technical team onwards with his first task being to guide the team later this month for the nation’s back to back U23 AFCON 2023 qualifiers at home on 22nd and away, a week later this month.  He will be assisted by three others namely: Francis Zappa Koroma, Ibrahim Sillah and Hassan Kamara respectively as Assistant Coach-I, II, and as Goalkeeping Coach, the SLFA said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

Sierra Leone’s August 10 Insurrection Hearing-impaired suspect remains in detention
