AISPO Honours 31 Voluntary Blood Donors Honored in Bombali

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AISPO), a prominent non-governmental organization dedicated to combating poverty, social injustice, and diseases affecting the most vulnerable populations in Sierra Leone and worldwide, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), has recognized 31 regular voluntary blood donors in Bombali district for their altruistic contributions to saving lives. Among the honourees are Alhaji Osman Jalloh, who has donated blood 61 times, Martin Lamin Kotay with 55 donations, and Mohamed Lamin Bangura and Ibrahim Sorie Koroma, each with 54 donations. Additionally, 27 other donors have each contributed blood at least 18 times. NSA Boss Apologies to the Nation over AFCON Exit

The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai has tendered his unreserved apologies to the people of Sierra Leone for Leone Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.  He made this public appeal  on 98.1's Good Morning Salone programme on Thursday. "On behalf of the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority, I want to unserverdly apologize to the people of Sierra Leone for the inability of the national team to qualify for 2025 AFCON campaign," Dr. Abdulai said. NSA Congratulates Newly Elected Body of North- East Region Athletics Association

The National Sports Authority wishes to formally congratulate the newly elected executive members and the general membership of the North- East Region Athletics Association for holding a peaceful congress.   Since the election of the  national executive committee members in April 2022, the region commissioned an interim executive to oversee the activities of the association, including the conduct of election for the various vacant positions. During the period of executing their mandate, the interim executive had many challenges with some members of the association, which led to court injunction by the High Court in Makeni. Sierra Leone Premier League Set to Kick Off Next Month

Benson Bawoh, during a recent meeting with the Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, and other officials. During the meeting, Ing. The Acting General Secretary of the Sierra Leone  Football Association (SLFA) Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawah has told  NSA Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai that the Sierra Leone Male Premier will commence on November 23, 2024.   Bawoh made this announcement on Monday at the NSA office while  formally presenting the League's Board to the NSA Chief and his team.  "It is a tradition for the FA to present board members of the male and female premier leagues to the NSA. NSA Executive Director Lawyer Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, on Sunday 27th October 2024, launched an under 15 football trophy titled: Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai U-15 Trophy at the Wusum Field, Makeni City. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness.
