2019 EBK League Wild with Delights

The 2019 EBK League which has been referred to as the Northern Champions League by some sports followers will kick start on Saturday October 19 this year. Twenty teams from six Districts (Bombali, Kambia, Port Loko, Tonkolili, Koinadugu and Kono) are already lined up to play home and away games in eight days fixtures. All games for this phase of the competition are expected to be played in Makeni, Bumbuna, Lungi, Rokupr, Kambia, Bamoi, Fadugu, Port Loko, Mile 91 and Magburaka respectively.

Cheltenham, Sunday Foundation, Talent Rangers, Urban and Bullom Stars are all debutants into the EBK League. The defending champions Wusum Stars will face the Bombali District latest division two champions in Makeni, while other teams will have to battle it out at other venues in the northern region.

Out of the twenty teams for this year’s league, both Marampa Stars of Lunsar and Sky Eagles of Kono are seeded already into the next round of the league while the reaming 18 teams will battle it out to join the two seeded teams after completing their home and away games and nine teams with the highest points and the best loser from the 18teams will join the two seeded clubs for the competition proper in November this year, the EBK Organizing Committee has confirmed.

“There will be less number of sponsorship from outsiders than it has been previously but the Chief Sponsor and Founder of the EBK League Honorable Chernor Maju Bah (Chericoco) is working on amount to be put at stake for the champions and runners up of this year’s competition to be higher than last year’s star prizes”, the Media Officer of the EBK League Amb. Mohamed Papa Bangura said to this writer.

The champions and runners up of the 2018 EBK League were Wusum stars of Makeni and Kholifa Stars of Magburaka, both teams bagged home the sum of Le 20,000,000 and Le 10,000,000 respectively.

The competition has been widen with delights from new comers and there are huge expectations from fans and supporters towards the participating teams and the organizers since the league will run for two Months consecutively and it will fill the vacuum of no leagues in been played in the regions in that period.

Fans will now be previewed to watch teams like Area Best, Bullom Stars, Bai Bureh Warriors, Sunday Foundation, Wusum Stars, Kholifa Stars and the likes that are among the ten standby teams for the SLFA Northern Region Playoff were two of the best from among the ten teams will join 14 other Premier League teams for this year’s National Premier League which has been postponed until further notice following a matter filed against the SLFA by some football stakeholders.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District

This newly launched medical facility, comprising 11 treatment rooms, was developed with the support of Southeastern Medical International (SMI) and the Concord Christian Church.
