The Generational Sin

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy)

There is a bankrupt truism that a man cannot be ahead of his time and generation! This philosophy draws strength from the the conflicting reality of disconnect between a generation bracket and ahead of time rationalization and behavioral patterns.

Certainly, some people are far ahead of their generation, time and the dictates of the age. Often in Western Literature, this can be neatly described as "the generation gap".

You think something or some direction is wrong but the greater and often gullible majority think it is right. Invariably, they will give you descriptive terms: a dissenter, a leftist, a non-conformist, a rebel, the list goes on.

Society largely thinks and behave in stereotypical manner with the ruthless expectations that all must follow and comply.

This perhaps the cradle or that which is loosely called societal norms. Realistically, norms are ridiculous conditioned patterns of behavior.

They have the huge potential to imprison the mind and overall Psyche of the human person.

Kwame Nkrumah was wiped off because he proved to be ahead of his generation and time. Thomas Sankara suffered similar fate.

There few examples in Sierra Leone of human characters that portray being ahead of their generation and time.

The cost of standing ahead of your generation and time is huge. You stand to suffer societal exclusion, marginalization, denial of opportunities and, often, persecution.

Being ahead of your generation and time is divine. All the prophets of the Holy books were ahead of their generation and time. For example, Jesus Christ was way ahead of his generation and time.

He challenged the broken status quo and pierced the unjust structures of the generation he was clearly ahead of.

Eventually, He was conspired against and killed.

Society cannot progress with people that think and behave in a stereotypical manner. Someone has to disagree and proffers an alternative direction or course of action.

Verdict: Partly True! Senegal is the first African team to beat England, but not the first to score three goals against them. That match ended goalless but marked the beginning of an intense soccer rivalry between both nations, dubbed the “Auld Enemy.” Since 1872-2025, the England national team has achieved its 1000-game milestone in November 2019 when they played Montenegro at the Wembley Stadium. England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200. Senegal, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most famous football nations, nicknamed the “Lions of Teranga.” In 2002, ...
