BOMBALI STAKEHOLDERS ASSURES FIRST LADY

Major streets in Makeni City were jam-packed on Friday 11th October 2019 with people from all works of lives in their thirst to witness the long awaited crusade of the country’s First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone Fatima Maada Bio on “Hands off our Girls” campaign.

Mayor of Makeni City Council, Her worship Sunkarie Kamara thanked the  First Lady for considering Bombali District as the first provincial area to launched “Hands off our Girls” campaign. Noting out that “Hands off our Girls” campaign is non-political and should not be politicized in any shape of forms because women are always exceptional but experience discriminating barriers in society.

She revealed that the Makeni City Council considered the free quality education by president Bio government as timely and on that note encouraged the people of Bombali District to make use of such opportunity because education is the only collateral security that cannot divorce them in future.

On behalf of the people of Bombali District, Hon Alpha Timbo thanked President Bio for appointing him as a minister of education directly responsible for the future of this nation.

He noted that he supported president Bio because of his vision to promote young people through education which to him is the right step in the right direction.

He revealed that the country human index is nothing to write home about and therefore further his commitment to make sure it will be the past because he trusted in the leadership and commitment of president Bio.

He concluded that the new direction priority areas do not only look at education but health, agriculture and also building national cohesion on the foundation slogan of “One Country, One People”.

The Resident Minster North-East Region Hon Abu Abu Koroma disclosed that the “Hands off our Girl” campaign is a clarion call by the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio in the fight against all kind of discrimination on girls.

He called on stakeholders that “Hands of our Girls” campaign is nonpolitical and should not be politicized because the law will frown against anyone that compromise issues that undermine the rights and liberties of girls.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at Makeni Wusum field, the country First Lady who doubles to be Chief Guest during the launching “Hands off our Girls” Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio said president Bio Agenda is to see how women can lived in a better life because his life history teaches him about the importance of women in society.

He further revealed that the “Hands off our girls” campaign considers traditional leaders especially paramount chiefs very important in achieving her dream, stating out that the mantle of responsibilities in protecting our girls lies in the hands of the paramount chiefs.

She therefore thanks all the donors including partners in supporting “Hands off our girl” campaign to become a reality.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
