The President’s Wedding

By: Ibrahim Jalloh – (Jallomy) President Bio has catholically wedded his wife, Mrs. Fatima Bio, in a cost effective but very colorful and memorable ceremony on past Friday, February 21 2020 at the Catholic Major Seminary’s Chapel in Regent. Earlier, ignorance overwhelmed a segment of the citizenry, who categorically questioned and criticized the canonic legality and moral quality of the wedding.  As the wedding closed in, the Chief Catholic Shepherd in Sierra Leone, His Grace Bishop Tamba Charles corrected the wrong perception and resoundingly endorsed the intention and preparation of President Bio to give sacramental character to the long standing relationship between him and Madam Fatima Bio.  President Bio is a Catholic Christian from birth. He was very restive and confident in the plausibility of the wedding. While the massive stampede was going on, President Bio was all smiling at the folly of his chronic detractors. We must understand that President Bio has a private and public l...

In Kenema… Hostile fans left momentous match outcome undecided

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson – (AR-Wilson) Aggressive actions from supporters at the Kenema city field on Saturday, 1st February, 2020 during a crunch tie in the Sierra Leone Premier League game between current league leaders, KamboiEagles and defending champions, East End Lions left match outcome undecided. From a right footed shot in the first half, the Lions goalie, Donald Kamara was sent the wrong way and the ball entered into the back of the Lions net and the Eagles fans went bazaar celebrating their lead from their inform striker, whose well placed volley puts the host in the front. East End Lions did all their work to get an equalizer but sadly, all their efforts didn’t pay off but saw the host putting more pressure on their counterpart and kept the score the same until the 75th minute of the game when riot break out at the Kenema city playing field. INSPIRING A GENERATION

By: Abdulrahman Barrie Loving Madam Isha Johansen was not much of a choice. It was something that came naturally, because of how she carried herself.  She resembles us and is moving in spaces were, as a footballing nation weren’t exactly meant to be, she seemed so powerful.  When you watch Madam Isha in action for the game she loves (soccer), it’s easy to see why she is performing at such an extraordinary level.  And she continues to add so much confidence and variety to the game. It should also excite us to know that she lives and breath football, I feel great about the future of football because of Madam Johansen is leading the way.  When I first met her, I was embraced by a warm, regal, confident woman who possesses a reassuring calm. The way she looked, walk and spoke, in that warm but authoritative tone, I saw a leader. She is strong and ambitious and spoke her mind without sacrificing honesty or empathy. That takes a lot of courage and discipline. She would have been impactful si...

Activating the Makeni City planning: the UNIMAK/San Pablo partnership

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy)👍 The partnership took life in July 10, 2010 between the University of Makeni (UNIMAK) and the CEU San Pablo University in Madrib, Spain. In his ever burning desire to see the sustainable urban planning of Makeni City, Rev. Fr. Joseph Alimamy Turay who is the Vice Chancellor of UNIMAK created a professional link between the Makeni City Council and CEU San Pablo.  The relationship went on well and a masterpiece urban plan was designed and commissioned on January 16, 2014.  The commissioning ceremony was electrifying and rekindled hitherto abandoned hope.  But since six years ago, the plan has been comfortably housed in a dark cabinet in Council. No explanation, no update, no action, no direction. We may need an explanation from Council. If there are legitimate barriers, we can all support our Council. The urban planning of Makeni city has been compromised several years back. This was due to the chronic inaction of the regional planning unit of the Ministry...

Return of a War Lord

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy) The eleven years brutal and brutish war in the West African State of Sierra Leone end in 2002 or thereabout.  A revolution that started with the lofty ideals of liberation and political emancipation degerated into calculated savagery and incredible Carnage unrivalled in the West African sub region. Following the end of the war, a UN backed Special Court was set up and anchored in Sierra Leone to try those deemed to bear the greatest responsibility. Few notorious RUF War Lords, including Augustine Gbao who was a major player in the heinous crimes perpetrated in Makeni and elsewhere, were indicted, tried and convicted. Augustine Gbao and his partners in crime against humanity were sent to Rwanda to serve various jail terms. Gbao was sentenced to 25 years. By December last year, he has served 16 years plus few months. This represents 2/3 of his jail term. A difficult to understand proposal has been put forward for his early release to return home and serve h...

The death of a humble servant: a glowing tribute to an exemplary Christ like character.

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy) 13/02/2020 "...the death of every man diminishes me.. so never send to ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee...".  The news was shocking, horrific, incredible and extremely shattering: Foday Dumbuya is dead. The ugly incident took place in the early hours of the day. The late man was a complete servant in the hands of God and humanity. Born into an unassuming, lowly and purpose centred family, late Foday Dumbuya grew up that way and formed his life and character along those values and virtues. He proved his consistency of character in his exclusive service to humanity through Caritas Makeni, a Catholic development charity. This was where I worked and interracted with the late man. He was result oriented and goal driven spiced with an unrivalled sense of humility. He was never angry, tired and in disagreement with any.  The last five years were of critical challenge to him. He faced serious challenges in his matrimonial life, job situati...

The ripple effects of the anticipated outcome of the Commissions of Inquiry. Part one.

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy) : +232 76 865510 William Shakespeare was an excellent literary scholar. His writings are all graded as classics of unimaginable proportion. Lessons of life can be always drawn from the literary works of William Shakespeare. His in-depth understanding of the human being and the human condition was and is still unrivalled.  One of Shakespeare’s best examples of a dark tragic narrative is his book titled “Macbeth”. “Macbeth”, among others, has the recurring theme of guilt. Macbeth was a great general whose vaulting ambition caused him to murder King Duncan for him to ascend the throne. He succeeded in murdering King Duncan with the active connivance of his wife, Lady Macbeth. The rest was the catastrophic fall and eventual death of Macbeth. The moral is that uncontrolled and unbridled ambition is a pathway to tragic end and damnation. The concluding Commissions of Inquiry are a replicated symbol of the “Mouse Trap” as used in “Macbeth” to catch the conscienc...
