The Beauty of leadership in fighting COVID- 19 in Bombali District

By: Ibrahim Jalloh – (Jallomy)

Bringing all the elements together in fighting the Coronavirus Pandemic in Bombali district is the most outstanding strength of the Coordination lead in the district, Alhaji Mohamed Mogambo Siaffa.

Mogambo took leadership of the coordination of the response efforts just about three months ago but the impact is visible and outstanding as most of the major stakeholders in the district are solidly integrated into the response.  All acclaimed and commended the servant leadership style of Mogambo.

From inception, President Bio offered the strongest political will and gave the entire response efforts a national character and identity. Mogambo was quick to understand and appreciate the position of the president on the fight against the Coronavirus and replicated those attributes that will enhance strong solidarity in fighting the common enemy.

In record time, Mogambo has reached out to key sectors in Bombali like the religious bodies, security sector,                  trade unions, political parties, women and youth groups, civil society, traditional leaders, the media and a lot more.

Visiting delegations from Freetown were always impressed. Mogambo’s open door policy has earned him the confidence and trust of the people in the community of service.

Like any human endeavor, coordination of the response efforts is not free of operational challenges. Enforcement and compliance with safety protocols are still challenging and in the thick of it all is an abounding culture of denial. Several calls were made to the sitting members of parliament in Bombali for convergence of purpose but regrettably this is still a dream deferred.
