Makeni Artist Union President Schools Self-Centred Makeni DJs

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson – (AR-WILSON)

The current President of the Makeni Artist Union – (MAU), Milton Franklyn Koroma alias Stuntman who doubles as a multitalented Song writer and producer has on Sunday, July 5, 2020 discharged self centred Disc Jockeys and other imposters attempting and meddling into the affairs of the union with selfish intentions geared towards bringing disrepute into the unification process and affairs of the elite group which has over the years posed threats to the smooth running, he stressed.

He said this on a local network in Makeni few days after some embattled Executive Members of the Union and some DJs took to a low key media campaign against his leadership, whose tenure of office they claimed have elapsed since July 1st this year but that he is still tight lipped about announcing a date for another election since he was elected some two years ago.

In an interview with Northern Times, the MAU President, Stuntman referred to the said claim as a fallacy and made referenced to Article II, Subsection XII under the Aims and Objective of the Makeni Artists Union Constitution which he said is: “To foster unity amongst Artists, DJs, Facilitators, Promoters, and Cassette Sellers.” DJs, Promoters, Facilitators among others are our partners but not members of our union, he stressed.

When asked about his plans to announce a date for another election since he was voted and later inaugurated on July 28, 2018, the Eclectic Thatcher Soloist said he is planning to stage an executive meeting with his membership a week before his two years tenure as president of the union elapse on the 28th July, 2020 and a week after will sermon another meeting with the Founders (Elders) of the Union to come up with statement on the way forward as a result of the novel corona virus which has led to a government decision which places a ban on public gathering of more than 35 people.

Koroma’s latest reaction broke out few months after some of his embattled executive members resigned.

The Multi-talented Singer, Samuel Yusuf Tarawalie aka Governor Blaq, the current NAS President, who is tipped as the main opposition and is also intending to run for the union’s presidency for the second time since he was defeated in the 2018 MAU Elections is seemingly calm but remains very affirmative that he was bullied by some stakeholders of the Makeni municipality previously but cannot be bullied for a second time while chasing his dream post.

Attempts from this writer to reach some of the said “Self-Centred DJs and other members of the Union remained unsuccessful.

But a large number of music followers in Makeni have expressed several an outcries among which cautions MAU and all fragmented groups to regroup as a visionary entity which will serve as the solution to mark the much needed urgent redress amongst members and partners of the influential Artist union.
