The competition which has began on Friday, 16th November, 2019 saw hundreds of school pupils and other lovers of football storming both the 4th Infantry Brigade Head Quarter, Teko Barracks mini stadium and the Wusum sports complex to cheer up their school teams.

This year’s school will come to an end in December and we have a little over 100 junior and senior secondary government, government assisted and private schools participating in this year’s volleyball and football leagues within Makeni and the whole of Bombali district, Bai Sheika Wurie, the Physical and Health Education division head confirmed to this writer.

In Makeni, it was all good for Makeni Compressive Academy and Saint Francis senior secondary schools as both schools defeated their opponents ( Ahmadiyya and Alharkan Looking Town secondary school) by 2-1 to 2-0 respectively at the Wusum stadium and Teko Barracks mini stadium.

Abdul Bangura of Saint Francis senior secondary school was the player to watch as he headed twice into the Alharkan nets to give his side a 2-0 win but failed to score an 80th minute penalty to would had score hat-trick.

Both football volleyball actions and volley ball actions in the league resumes on Monday in the two venues (Wusum and Teko Barracks stadium) in the following fixtures:

JSS: Kulafi Vs Royal Academy and Benevolent Lama St. Vs Kankalay Masuba while for the SSS: SLMB Vs Every Nation and Sylvaus Vs Ansarul.

Much is however, much is expected from the supporters of various schools, Bombali District MBSSE, PHE school heads, Teachers and Pupils to ensure that they refrain from violence at all games, and for players of both volleyball and football games to be solely school going pupils and not outsiders as it has been shallowly in previous years.
