Bombali and Karene District Receive Toyota Hilux and 11 Trucks of Free Health Care Drugs

A highly powered delegation of staff from the Country’s Ministry of Health and Sanitation has handed over a Toyota Hilux and eleven loaded trucks with Hundreds of Cartoons of Free Health Care Drugs - (FHCD) to Bombali and Karene District Stakeholders on Friday 2nd August 2019.

Prior to the presentation of the Free Health Care Drugs to Stakeholders at the Eric Dura Hall and within the premises of the Bombali District Council, various statements of appreciation and praises to the New Direction Government headed by President Julius Maada Bio were made by Stakeholders of Bombali and Karene District including staff of the Bombali District Health Management Team (DHMT) and other invitees from within and outside the Districts.

The provision of drugs to health centers country wide is part of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation commitments to reduce infant mortality, high death rate of Under five children, Pregnant women, lactating mothers and others in the country which is in accordance with the new direction vision of His Excellency Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio.
Speaking at the Eric Dura Hall, Staff from the Health Ministry including Lawrence Sandi, the Director of Services, Doctor Philip Kargbo and others affirmed of the ministry’s readiness with support from the central government and its partners to reduce and possibly eradicate still birth, infant mortality and high death rate at Health Centers in the country.

The Toyata Hilux which is meant for drugs delivery and the 11 Trucks loaded with FHCD was on behalf of the Government and Partners handed over to the Chairman Council of Paramount Chief, PC Bai Baroh, who also handed over the supply to the Deputy Chairman of the Bombali District Council, the Karene District Council, the District Medical Officer (DMO) of Bombali District, the District Health Pharmacist accordingly for the people of Bombali and Kerene District.

Responding to questions from Northern Times about the drugs supply, MoHS’s Public Relations Officer Solomon Rogers urged the media, stakeholders and members of the public to keep Eagle Eyes on the supply for it to be utilized for it intended purpose at various medical centers in both Bombali and Kerene District and not the inverse.

He recalled that few weeks after the previous supply to the two Districts, Police in Makeni arrested at a private dwelling situated along Magburaka Road some 52 cartoons of Drugs that were proven to be Free Health Care Drugs and after their robust investigation that was aided by identifying the drugs via its batch numbers.

He request for all and sundry to report promptly to the Police any person or groups suspected to be using these drugs for private gains and that the ministry is always ready to provide proof for easy identification of the Free Health Drugs that will enhance for defaulters to be brought to book a best practice which he said will easily pave way for correct use of the FHCD for its intended purpose.

Paramount Chiefs, Her Worship the Mayor of the Makeni City Council, Staff of the Bombali District Health Management Team, other attendees and representatives from both Karene and Bombali District expressed their appreciation and thanked the Government and its Partners for the supply and for reaching out to help sustain good practices previous government of the especially in the health sector.

Prior to and at the end of the event, stakeholders and other attendees also made commitments to effectively monitor for prudent and even distribution of the drugs to all health centers including remote and hard to reach areas in both districts in complimenting the government’s effort in making way for better health services in every part of the country.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
