Youth Build SL’s Academy Certifies 39

After a hectic 12 to 18 Months period of vocational, physical, mental and academic mentoring at Youth Build Sierra Leone’s (YBSL) Academy in Makeni City, Bombali District, in the Northern part of the country, thirty nine youths have successfully completed their various certificate courses and have been certified on Construction and Electrical, Catering, Mental Works, Driving, Tailoring, and Information Communications Technology (ICT).


The certification ceremony took place on United Nations International Youths Day, August 12, 2019 in the watchful eyes of invitees from all works of life of society. 


Speaking to Northern Times, two of the Participants certified on Driving and Tailoring Humu M. Sesay and Foday Alan Mansaray, both thanked YBSL for installing in them the new knowledge. They also urged other Youth to enroll with YBSL to be empowered too, hence they as well cited a line from YBSL’s Pledge “to improve our lives and rebuild our society” affirming that they are ready for the job market, community services and to deliver their best in any of their undertakings henceforth.


YBSL’s founder Robinson Sesay alias Big Brother gave a brief background of  YBSL during his speech at the occasion that he drew his inspiration from the United States of America, who at some point in times years over were also transforming the minds of youths to seek vocational ideas that will help them make ends meet and to a well develop their country as it is today. “The same vision is mine that is why I want cooperate bodies, government and all to embrace this concept with Youth Build Sierra Leone to help build our loveable country Sierra Leone” YBSL’s Founder noted.

He conclusively, expressed gratitude to all attendees and development partners that have in one way or the other supported his vision and emphasized that Youth Build Sierra Leone is only an idea of his but it is not his but that of every other person that believed in crating the platforms for youth transformation.


The event was not only limited to certification but it was also stretched to a motivational public lectures from some of the successfully names in agriculture, advocacy, entrepreneur and public administration likes ARCTs Director General, Joe Turay, the chairperson of the occasion, Madam Anita Kororma,  Jospeh Lansana, Abdulai Jalloh, Shekuba Sesay among others, all of which addressed the grandaunts’ and other attendees to prioritize knowledge seeking and to embrace YBSL’s commitments and to help compliment their efforts in promoting and reviving the minds of youths from their devastating states to having positive mind sets.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson Residents of the Asker Amputee Camp in Makeni City, including various war victims, are rejoicing over the inauguration of the Makeni Medical Mission health facility, established by philanthropist, author, and pastor Mr. Bambay Sawaneh, alongside his partners in the United States. Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers
