SLRSA EMBARKS ON REMOVAL OF CHINESE HIGH VELOCITY LIGHTS

As a result of several complaints including road mishaps at night, the Sierra Leone Road Safety Crops in Makeni have embarked on a successful road operations wherein vehicles that immediately entered Makeni City with Chinese high velocity lights are removed, warned or fined. 

According to the Deputy Route commander Alimamy Sesay AKA Marcus, he informed this medium that they have embarked “on the spot checks” with the rationale to identify and address  several traffic violations such as fixing Chinese high velocity lights, driving without license, unregistered vehicles, passenger manifest etc.

He revealed that during the exercise, they have succeeded to arrest hundreds of artificial Chinese lights placed in front of the vehicles including unlicensed and unregistered vehicles and motor bikes in and out of the municipality of Makeni.

Arthur Fynn, the Acting head of Makeni station explained to this medium that all arrested vehicles and motor bikes need to go through the right process before release to their right own.

He therefore emphases that most of the drivers that fixed Chinese high velocity lights are not going to received them because their action amount to lawlessness and a bridge of traffic regulation.

He maintained that even though their presence is to generate revenue for the central government but they have a sole mandate to protect lives and properties and that any action that will undermine this process will be treated accordingly.
