Northern Region Women’s Network Boost Sexually Abuse Girl 13…

In their efforts to empower, protect and stop all illegal abuses on the girl child and to help primarily northern region teenagers and young girls become the next generation of vitreous societal women in the region and the country at large, the Northern Region Women’s Network (NRWN) has on Thursday 8th August, 2019 at the regional office north of the Ministry of Social, Gender and Children’s Affairs provided support of Five Hundred Thousand Leones (Le 500,000) cash plus food and cooking condiments to one 13 years old Minor that was sexually by her uncle in Makeni some six Months ago.

The donation was double packed, for it was also extended to the Ministry of Social, Gender and Children’s Affairs (MSGCA) Northern Region Headquarters, who were also provided a cash sum of Five Hundred Thousand Leones (Le 500,000) to cover transportation cost on follow ups made on the minor’s sexual accuse case.

In her statement prior to the presentation of the One Million Leones cash and the food items to the Regional Director North of MSGCA, her worship the Mayor of the Makeni City Council, Mayor Sunkarie Kamara, a member of the Northern Region Women’s Network, on behalf of the Network expressed their dismay to the victim and also to deepest sympathy to the sexually abused minor expressed their deepest sympathy for such an unprecedented occurrence. 

She narrated briefly the initial steps NRWN has embarked on along with journalists, CSOs and a social worker of the ministry which has paved the way for legal actions to be taken against the victim Fuhad Kamara of Watson Street in Makeni who doubles as an uncle to the thirteen years old girl that he sexually abused since February this year and has suddenly been impregnated. 

“Our baby’s case is so but very pathetic to have occurred in a time like this when us as a nation has got a central leadership that is committed to ending rape, violence and all forms sexual abuses against girls and women in the country” her worship said in bitter voice.

She again, affirmed on behalf of the Northern Region Women’s Network of their continued support to the minor until she delivers safely and that their eyes and ears will be on her until she returns to school and become one amongst the prominent women in the next generation and thus implored on the Ministry of Social, Gender and Children’s Affairs to continue to take very good care of the minor from peer group, family and societal stigma.

Madam Josephine Posseh Saccoh is the Regional Director North of MSGCA, She expressed their profound gratitude to members of the Northern Region Women’s Network for providing such boost for both the ministry and the girl. 

Madam Saccoh however, assured NRWN, Pressmen and the public about the ministry’s fullest support in doing the needful to protect the child from this sexual and emotional misfortune that has befall her and that they will do all the best they could to ensure that the victim Fuad Kamara who is currently on remand at the Makeni Correctional Center and has made his first appearance on July 30 last Month and is standing trial on two count charges ranging from Sexual Penetration and Sexual Abuse by Person in Trust contrary to Section 19 and Section 25 (1)(a) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 12 of 2012  respectively will surely face the full force of the law.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
