MAFFS BOMBALI DISTRICT HOST SECTORAL MEETING, AS PARTNERS RE-AFFIRMS REDINESS TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY

Government Line Ministries, Non Governmental Organizations, Community Based Organizations and other attendees that made it to the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security Bombali District monthly Sectoral meeting held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the MAFFS Bombali Conference Hall, have re-affirms their readiness to mammothly increase productivity at their various Agricultural Projects at their agricultural sites as they look forward to continual support from the governments so as to compliment the efforts of farmers, donor partners and more.

The meeting was chaired by the Programme officer of Child Fund Sierra Leone Bando Marah, who ushered in updates from attendees of the meeting ranging from the government line ministries, non-governmental  organizations, community base organizations, CBO’s and more that all highlighted a number of successes and challenges they are experiencing in their agricultural activities over the Month.

Most CBO’s, NGO’s, FBO’s, Government line Ministries submitted their reports to the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and food security Bombali district followed by a number of responses from the farmers and MAFFS staffs suggesting ways forward on how government and non-governmental organizations and partners can continually support them with their usual incentives, fertilizers, machines, and trainings for they believe that will yield a better dividend for increase in their agricultural  crops and animals production.

Disclosing to Alusine Rehme Wilson a reporter of this press, David Dicks Williams of Grassroots Action for Community Empowerment that is working with three communities Pate-Bana, Binkolon and Kamakuwie, noted that the meeting is very meaningful to them as agriculturist and heads of agricultural organizations and promised to share the learnt knowledge with their farmers as he look forward to sponsors to help them facilitates trainings for the farmers.

Philip Rashid Denkeh of Leone Agriculture for Development (LADO) an organization that is currently working with six communities (Robine, Rogbureh, Pate-Bana,Rogbom, Manakie, and Robuya) providing locally based farmers of  these communities with seeds loan also stressed on the relevance of the meeting to them as non-governmental organization that is working with farmers are committed to continue to partner with MAFFS Bombali as they have been providing them with the required assistance both technically and practically and concluded their commitment to ensure sustainable agriculture in the country as he looks up for other implementing partners to jointly achieve this aim.


The NGO desk Officer of MAFFS Bombali Makeni, Samuel D. Kamara explained to this press that the sect oral meeting is one among their many skills to improve Agriculture and to as well interacts with farmers, CBO’s, NGO’s, FBO’s, Government line Ministries creating the platform to share ideas and hear from them all and at the end of the meeting receive their reports which the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and food security Bombali district is following to see the loops and boost to present to government and implementing partners that have been keeping their needs and goals straight.

He further noted that: “MAFFS Bombali district we are very thankful to the central government and we are hoping to receive the required boost for the Agricultural Ministry of Forestry and food security we are on loan recovery presently to farmers that collected fertilizers loans from us last year, one we are complete this process we will as well lobby to government for more support to farmers”.

He ended on by admonishing all Sierra Leoneans to encourage farmers to be motivated to produce more crops and livestock for food efficiency and availability of agricultural products in the country.

Child fund Sierra Leone Programme Officer urged farmers to repay governmental loan and assures the general public their commitment to boost agriculture in the country.

Clinical Health Nutritionist of the Makeni Government Hospital Sally S. Squire, encouraged all to continue to embark on agriculture for  that will medically create the room for the availability of the six classes of food that will help to encourage farmers and their families as well as other Sierra Leoneans to eat well-balanced diet food and admonished attendees to share with their relatives and neighbours to inculcate the practice of ensuring that their daily meals contain the six food classes.

Ngowulan Women Cooperative Society Program Manager Kadiatu F. Jalloh promised to take home the messages from the sect oral meeting and further expressed her anxiety for government support to women organizations and other agricultural organizations and encouraged all to be ensuring that they attend to sect oral meetings of MAFFS Bombali emphasizing the how contributing it has always been to her organization and other agricultural organizations citing the health talk at the sectoral meeting form the health sector for all to be eating locally produced crops and livestock.

At the end of the meeting SiLNORF representative at the meeting committed their organizations willingness to support Farmers and work hand in gloves with MAFFS Bombali district as they work to ensure that the Right to Food is ensured in the country for the general good of the people of Sierra Leone and Economical boost in the future.
